The Water Crossing

On Saturday the day ended at the Moore Park water front on Upper Klamath Lake where the water crossing would take place first thing Sunday. The teams took advantage of this to transition their entries for the water. The use of floats, different wheels, etc, is allowed as long as everything used is carried for the entire race.

It seems likely that they were off the clock for the transition here so slower transitions probably did not incur a time penalty.

On Sunday morning each vehicle entered the lake on one boat ramp, traveled out away from shore, rounded a buoy, and returned to a different ramp. Nobody drowned or needed a rescue by the sheriffs boat which was on hand, but one entry was swam in for the very end bit after a catastrophic failure.

To finish with PEL status the no pushing rule applies to the water exit, until the rear wheels are on the ramp above the water line.
